Our Story

On November 7, 2008, the LORD entrusted a few saints with His vision. A letter was drafted, and on Sunday, November 9, 2008 with much prayer, faith, and the attendance of a few families “Ekklesia Bible Fellowship of Texas” (a called out body of Believers) was a reality. Services were held in the living room of our residence. Our initial services consisted of Sunday morning teachings directly from “International Bible Lessons”; which proved to be a blessing. The lessons were pre-planned and provided the needed structure for our first year. Each Sunday morning began with a fellowship breakfast prior to starting worship service. To celebrate our first year’s anniversary, we removed all the furniture from the residence to make room for the invited guest. Our celebration consisted of scripture, prayer, praise dancing, poetry, a solo, and the preached word. At the conclusion of service, we gathered outside where we had food and fellowship.

The following year Pastor Pitts transitioned from strictly teaching to Preaching/teaching as directed by the Holy Spirit. Because we were a small group, the transition from strictly teaching to preaching/teaching proved to be God sent. Before long it was time to move from the living room to the Garage. This would prove to be quite an undertaking, but after countless hours of renovation, materials, and help from those God sent our way; we had room to worship and praise the LORD. Of course, the ladies added a special touch.

During the next couple of years, we were able to add video and audio components, contribute to the Haiti tragedy fund, and baptize four new converts at (Bridge to life Christian Fellowship). For our next “Founders Day” Celebration we were blessed by Saxophonist “Thom Brownlee”, Ekklesia’s Angels of Praise, and Minister Lovell Fleming (Bridge to Life CF) who brought the message. There was a large tent erected outside to facilitate the Christian fellowship at the conclusion of service. On September 28-29, 2012 the ladies of Ekklesia enjoyed their first “Women’s Retreat” at Sky Ranch, and boy was it “Spirit” filled; ladies from both Texas and Louisiana were in attendance. Our vacation Bible Schools have also been great! We were blessed with several opportunities to volunteer at the Dallas Life Foundation, help with community projects, as well as support the hurricane victims in New York. God is moving us slowly but moving us none the less. Sunday School from 9:30 – 10:15 was added to our services and EBFOT has been granted a 501(c)(3) non-profit status. God’s hand is at work!
